Armenian chess players win bronze at World University Championship
The Armenian team (GM Karen Grigoryan, GM Zaven Andriasian, FM Tigran S. Petrosyan, WFM Maria Gevorgyan) scored 18 points out of 27 and took the bronze medal at the 13th World University Championship held in Katowice, Poland. Representatives of Poland (20.5) and Russia (18.5) took the first two places.
By the individual classification of the men’s section Karen Grigoryan took the silver medal. He scored 6.5 points out of 9 and shared 1st-3rd places together with GMs Sanan Sjugirov and Ivan Bukavshin (Russia). Sjugirov became the World University Champion with additional points.
Maria Gevorgyan took 6th place with 5.5 points in the women’s section. WIM Klaudia Kulon (Poland) became the champion with 8.5 points, armchess.am reported.
