Nairit Plant workers stage protest outside government
Workers of Yerevan’s Nairit chemical plant staged yet another protest today outside the Armenian government, demanding their back wages.
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervan Zakharyan talked to the protesters. He urged Nairit employees to be united and to demand the full payment of back wages.
The minister asked the plant workers why they don’t demand that those who are to blame for the current situation be held accountable.
The plant workers said they are against the plant’s closure and want the resumption of its work and regular payment of their wages. They also said that they did not receive wages for 18 months, while a month ago they were assured that their back wages would be paid by late August.
Yervand Zakharyan told Nairit workers that by September 15 a new package of proposals concerning Nairit Plant will be submitted.
