French University staff forced to join Orinats Yerkir Party
‘Chorrord Ishkhanutyun’ paper writes citing its sources that an attempt is being made to compensate for the outflow of members from Orinats Yerkir (OEK) Party by any means, including those that contradict the Constitution.
“According to reliable sources, all employees of the French University of Armenia are forced to join OEK, even those lecturers who are not Armenian citizens.
It should be noted that Article 3 point 1 of the Armenian Law on Political Parties says: “An association may not be recognized as a political party, if its statute: allows membership of foreign nationals, stateless persons, with the exception of cases provided for by this Law, as well as membership of foreign and international organizations”.
It turns out that OEK ceased to be a political party at the moment when it admitted persons who are not Armenian citizens into the party,” the paper writes.
