Haykakan Zhamanak: 12 Yerevan City supermarkets to transfer to Carrefour
‘Haykakan Zhamanak” daily writes citing its sources that the negotiations between the owners of Carrefour multinational retailer and Yerevan City supermarket chain have in fact finished, with a final agreement reached.
“Based on negotiations, 12 Yerevan City supermarkets will be transferred to Carrefour by early 2015, after which the supermarkets named Yerevan City will disappear from Yerevan. Under the agreement, Carrefour will only lease the areas of Yerevan City supermarkets, while the equipment and stock will be brought into line with Carrefour standards. Given the fact that a Carrefour hypermarket will open at the Yerevan Mall in a few days, it can be said that drastic changes will occur in Armenia’s retail trade and import in the near future,” the paper says.
The daily failed to verify this information from parliamentary deputy Samvel Alekdsanyan whose family owns Yerevan City chain as well as from Armenian employees of Carrefour.
