Haykakan Zhamanak: Parade not planned on Independence Day
‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ daily says that this year a military parade is not planned as part of festivities on Armenia’s Independence Day marked on September 21, the paper learned from Defense Ministry spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan.
“Parades are held on special anniversaries,” A. Hovhannisyan said.
“In response to the remark of the paper’s correspondent that some people say that it is worth holding a military parade after this summer’s events, the ministry spokesman replied: “It is an item of expense of the state budget and is planned at the start of the year”. Instead of this, Independence Day will be celebrated at Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex in Yerevan, the paper notes.
