Zakharyan: Nairit did not receive investment offers
Nairit Plant’s debt currently amounts to 102 billion 876 million drams, Armenian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan said today during a consultation at the ministry to discuss the plant’s problem.
The president and prime minister of Armenia are deeply concerned about this situation, the minister said, noting that instructions were given to develop a package of proposals and submit it to the Armenian government.
“This cannot continue forever: it is impossible to pay wages of plant employees every month at the expense of other companies,” Zakharyan said urging those present – representatives of the plant, Armenian parliamentary deputies and other interested persons to present proposals for resolution of the problem.
A representative of Nairit said that the plant will be re-operated in case of necessary investments.
The minister replied that no investment offers have been received so far, including from Russia’s Rosneft Company.
Former director of Nairit Plant Karen Israelyan said for his part that the number of specialists is declining at their enterprise day by day. “There is lack of personnel, and most employees are aged 50 and above,” he said.
