Vice president of Rostelecom: We take interest in Armenian market
Rostelecom Company sees serious prospects of development in Armenia’s telecommunication market because all services provided by the company in Armenia are in great demand, Executive Vice President of Rostelecom Alexander Rogovoy told Armenian reporters at a meeting in the company’s head office.
“We are discussing the opportunity of setting up a data center in Armenia soon and we face the future confidently,” he said, adding that the company plans to increase access to its services, both in Yerevan and in Armenian provinces.
According to A.Rogvoy, Rostelecom will invest about $30 million over five years of its activities in Armenia - in 2012-2016 and by late 2014, the amount of investments is expected to reach $20 million.
He noted that the level of competition in Armenian telecoms market is quite high, considering it as a positive factor that will make the company to work more actively and offer new services. “The market interests us,” Rogovoy said.
When asked if their company intends to enter Armenia’s mobile phone market, he replied: “It is a difficult question. On the one hand, these services are similar, but they also have peculiarities. I should say that first of all, we want to develop the services that we now offer”.
“We are satisfied with the development rates of our subsidiary company. The number of our subscribers is not large yet, but the development rates are high. Our new packages have created great interest in Armenia. And I want to stress one important advantage – quality,” Rogovoy said.
According to official data, Rostelecom has 21 thousand subscribers in Armenia. The company ranks third in Armenian telecoms market by the number of subscribers, but is in first position by subscriber growth rates.
