Nelly Duryan: Number of juvenile offenders grew
The number of juvenile offences has grown in Armenia, Head of the 3rd Unit of the Main Criminal Investigation Department of Armenian Police, Colonel Nelly Duryan told reporters today.
“243 juvenile offences were recorded this year as compared to 241 in the same period of last year. The number of thefts declined – 116 against 131 thefts last year. The number of injury infliction cases increased by 11 compared to last year. 2 robberies were committed by minors in 2014 – only one robbery was recorded last year,” she said.
In her words, the number of minors serving a prison term is small in our country – 11, while the remaining juvenile offenders are under the supervision of the police or Justice Ministry.
Presenting data on domestic violence, Nelly Duryan said the police are developing a draft document to be submitted to the government soon.
In eight months of 2014, there were 1,501 violent acts against women, including 374 cases of domestic violence. 138 violent acts were committed against minors, including 7 cases of domestic violence.
