Republican recitation contest winners receive PM’s prizes
Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan attended the gala concert of the 7th republican juvenile recitation contest at Hakob Paronyan Musical Comedy Theatre in Yerevan. The contest held under the auspices of Armenian prime minister was entitled “Language and Homeland” and dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Artsakh liberation struggle, according to the government’s press service.
In his speech of welcome, the prime minister noted with satisfaction that since 2008, the number of pupils from Armenia, Artsakh and Javakhk participating in the contest has increased from 3 thousand to 200 thousand.
“We will continue to develop this popular contest and expand its geography by involving our compatriots from the Diaspora as well,” Hovik Abrahamyan said.
He stressed that the recitation contest contributes to the preservation of the native language and the unity of the Armenian people. He thanked the contest organizers for their significant contribution.
The prime minister congratulated the winners and wished them success. Hovik Abrahamyan presented Armenian Prime Minister’s letters of thanks and prizes to the pupils who took first, second and third places in 11-14 and 15-17 year-old age groups and to the youngest participant.
