Aravot: Clarity emerges in Armenia’s political field
The editor of ‘Aravot’ newspaper Aram Abrahamyan writes that clarity has emerged in Armenia’s political field. Naira Zohrabyan, the secretary of the parliamentary faction of Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), stated in Vanadzor yesterday that the trio of non-coalition parties has a common agenda which consists in a change of power. ‘The current authorities must go,” she said.
“It is logical that Naira Zohrabyan coordinated that statement with the first persons of their party. It is therefore the official position of Prosperous Armenia.
It means at least two things. First, the 12-point demands of the non-coalition political forces are non-topical henceforth. It would not serious to develop an agenda as follows: 1) I demand your resignation, 2) I demand removing the red lines of parking lots.
All the other points pale beside the first one. The demands should be reformulated as follows: “You must go and I will come to power”, and only then promises shall be made – I will remove red lines, speed measuring devices, abolish taxes and bank interest, and I will do everything so that oranges will grow on trees in Armenia in the winter.
The second conclusion to be made from the latest events on the political scene is that the phrase “non-pro-government forces” has become non-topical. It is the opposition that demands change of power and the opposition has demanded the same since 1992,” the editor of ‘Aravot’ says.
