Female student dies in Marysville High School shooting
A female student was shot dead by the Washington State shooter, Marysville Police Commander Robb Lamoureux announced, according to RIA Novosti.
"The scene is secure, two people are deceased, one male, one female. About 30 students and staff are witnesses and are being questioned," Lamoureux said in a press briefing Friday.
The police are not confirming the type of weapon the shooter used, but have confirmed that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Two young students from the Marysville-Pilchuck High School are out of the operating room, while another victim, a young woman, is still undergoing surgery, Chief Medical Officer Joanne Roberts of the Providence Regional Hospital told reporters Friday.
Roberts said that one of the victims, a 15-year-old boy, had been identified, but his family declined to reveal his name. She added that identifying the victims was a hard task because of their head wounds.
On Friday morning, a gunman shot himself after opening fire inside a US school north of Seattle, in Washington State. The shooter, Jaylen Fryberg, was a freshman recently suspended from the high school football team for fighting. He is reported to have been a very popular student from a well-respected family.
