Babayan: Trial of Azerbaijani saboteurs will be transparent
External pressure cannot impact the trial of the Azerbaijani saboteurs, the spokesman for the president of Nagorno Karabakh David Babayan told Aysor.am.
“Pressure cannot impact the trial, despite the intention of the Azerbaijani side. Naturally, we know that the criminal state shall do everything possible to help its citizens suspected of having committed a number of crimes. The same was done in the case of Safarov,” D. Babayan said.
“I am sure they will not succeed in that. We will hold a trial according to all democratic laws. These men already have defense lawyers. We are a legal state and have to hold a trial in accordance with democratic laws, fairly and transparently,” Babayan noted.
He stressed that if the men are innocent, the court will prove this fact.
As was reported earlier, Azerbaijani saboteurs Shahbaz Guliev, Dilham Askerov and Hasan Hasanov infiltrated into Karvachar region of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic in July 2014.
They are charged under several articles of the Criminal Code such as violation of the border, killing a 17-year-old village resident and an officer of the Armenian army and wounding a woman.
One of the saboteurs, Hasan Hasanov, was killed as he offered resistance during his detention.
