Asatryan: Government has programs to boost birth rate
Studies show that the Law on Temporary Disability Allowance does not serve its purposes, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artyom Asatryan said during the bill’s debate in the National Assembly of Armenia today when responding to a question of the deputy of Prosperous Armenia (BHK) faction Ms. Elinar Vardanyan.
“As for the birth rate, we have concrete programs that boost the birth rate. The lump-sum allowance program is aimed at increasing the birth rate. In this case the state will also provide assistance which will be of a continuous nature,” the minister noted.
“Is there any guarantee that the program will not be implemented in the interests of the rich?” the BHK faction deputy asked, expressing hope the program will not infringe upon the rights of working pregnant women.
“I hope the program will not serve the interests of the rich. I am inclined to share concern of pregnant women,” she said.
In response, the minister said he hopes for a joint search for solutions that will lead to the best result.
