Defendant Askerov gives contradictory evidence
At the court hearing in the case of two Azerbaijani saboteurs, Prosecutor Karen Gabrielyan asked defendant Dilham Askerov why he said in his testimony that he did not meet any military when crossing the border, whereas he says in a video: “The military told us that we would die of hunger in Shahumian region, but there is much food here”. D. Askerov said he did not make such comments or a video, Artsakhpress reports.
He also denied the charge of killing Smbat Tsakanyan, a minor from Karvachar village in Karabakh. In a recording, D. Askerov says that they “are bringing a 20-year-old piglet whom we cannot release yet, and Guliev guards him”.
The defendant agreed that the tests of the bullet which killed the minor and of Askerov’s automatic rifle show his guilt, but he denied his guilt.
In one case Askerov claims that he took the automatic rifle, from which Smbat Tsakanyan was killed, from Hasanov, but he then says that he did not swap his gun with anyone.
