Government holds consultation on ICT sector development

Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan held a consultation on the development of the Information and Communication Technology sector, according to the government press office.

The ICT sector of Armenia has great potential and is at the center of the government’s attention, the prime minister said noting that the government is prepared to assist with the sector’s further development, training of qualified personnel, and the implementation of new programs.

The participants discussed a range of issues. In particular, it is planned to teach programming, microelectronics, and information and communication in senior schools, equip school labs with modern equipment, retrain teachers, etc. so as to provide the ICT sector with qualified personnel.

Private sector representatives expressed a willingness to make capital investment towards this end. Hovik Abrahamyan welcomed the program’s realization.
