Policemen detained for bribery
On November 6 a man informed the Internal Security Department of the Armenian Police that A. Harutyunyan, a senior inspector of the Mashtots regional unit, demanded a bribe of $600 from him for submitting data confirming the fact of his residence to the passport unit. The man bargained about the price and reduced it by $50.
The man gave Harutyunyan $200 and 50,000 drams on November 5, after which he agreed to give the remaining sum - $200 on November 7.
Around 2:10 pm on November 7 the senior inspector of the regional police A. Harutyunyan and another senior inspector of the same unit Colonel Khachatryan were detained while accepting a bribe of 80,000 drams in the Mashtots unit.
Their powers were temporarily suspended, according to the press service of Armenian police.
The case materails will be filed to the Special Investigation Service.
