Government discusses IT sector development prospects
Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan conducted a consultation on the development of the IT sector.
He said that the IT industry is among the priorities of the Armenian government, and given its great potential, the government is ready to assist with the implementation of IT programs, according to the governmental press office.
A draft program developed by the Union of IT Enterprises was presented during the consultation. The UITE draft proposes creating engineering labs in the general education system by launching a mass program of training experts. The draft authors say the program should start from Armenian provinces, with a consecutive chain of infrastructure being set up by cooperation with IT companies. The program is expected to prepare qualified experts for the sector, promote cooperation between the state and the private sector, and ensure efficient science-production links.
The prime minister welcomes the idea and gave instructions to discuss the proposed program with appropriate departments.
