Spouses share special moments with Queensland koalas
The spouses of G20 leaders have spent more than two hours at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary having a close-up experience with some of Australia’s iconic wildlife and learning more about efforts to conserve native Australian animals.
At the sanctuary the spouses cuddled koalas, fed kangaroos and watched a sheep dog and sheep shearing show over morning tea.
The visit to the sanctuary, a 4.6-hectare park in the Brisbane suburb of Fig Tree Pocket, was hosted by Margie Abbott, the wife of Australia’s Prime Minister. Joining Mrs Abbott were the spouses of leaders from Canada, China, the European Union, Indonesia, Italy, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey, the OECD and the United Nations.
