Arsen Ghazaryan: Armenia should join EEU right now

“Armenia should join the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) right now – by delaying that process, Armenia may lose its voting right”, the Chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Businessmen of Armenia Arsen Ghazaryan told reporters today. 

He considered it necessary to keep the free trade regime with Russia, after which development is possible.

As regards the loss of the EU market, Ghazaryan said that at first that market shall be conquered. He reminded those present that although Armenia-EU trade cooperation is carried out under the GSP+ system, Armenia has not exported anything except copper concentrate, brandies and canned food.

Speaking about the depreciation of the Armenian dram, Arsen Khazaryan noted that the Central Bank of Armenia does not want to influence the situation on the market and any artificial regulation of the market may have a negative impact on the economy.
