Shaboyan: We’ll do everything to protect our companies’ interests in EEU
Anticompetitive actions are forbidden within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), with monopolistically high prices and monopolistically low ones to be established in the EEU, Chairman of Armenia’s State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) Artak Shaboyan said at an event organized by the Commission to discuss prospects of Armenia’s membership in EEU.
In the EEU, sanctions will be applied to natural and juridical persons as well as to officials, the commission head said. “For example, if a state official enters into collusion with businessmen during state purchases, a fine will be imposed on that official,” Shaboyan explained.
According to him, legislative amendments will start within six months to bring the Armenian laws into line with the EEU norms.
The rules of EEU will apply to transborder markets, and the SCPEC of Armenia will do everything to protect the interests of domestic entrepreneurs and companies in the EEU, Artak Shaboyan said.
