Court to decide on tycoon Hayrapetyan’s house arrest extension on Dec.10
The investigator’s application to extend tycoon Levon Hayrapetyan’s house arrest will be examined on December 10, Moscow’s Basmanny court said, according to Rosbalt news agency.
Hayrapetyan is charged under the Russian Criminal Code’s Articles 160 and 174 – appropriation of property and money laundering. His prosecution began following the evidence given by ex-senator Igor Izmestyev who serves a life term for several grave crimes. The former senator said that Hayrapetyan was allegedly involved in the 2009 sale of Bashneft shares by the son of former president of Bashkiria Ural Rakhimov to Sistema Company.
On July 17, 2014 Hayrapetyan was imprisoned by a court decision, and on October 3 he was placed under house arrest for health reasons. The businessman does not admit his guilt and denies all the charges against him.
Another case against Hayrapetyan is also being investigated. In the fraud case opened based on a statement of ex-senator Izmestyev’s mother, Levon Hayrapetyan is charged with embezzling $700 thousand.
