Haykakan Zhamanak: Gazprom Armenia may file gas price rise application
In February or March 2015, Gazprom Armenia Company is likely to ask the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia to review the natural gas tariffs, ‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ daily says.
“The gas tariff is calculated based on the dollar rate of 410 drams per USD, while the current rate of the dollar is 460 drams. Gazprom Armenia pays in dollars for gas supplied by Russia ($189 per 1,000 cubic meters), but the population pays in drams for gas so Gazprom Armenia is now allegedly suffering losses because of the dram’s devaluation. To avoid such losses, the company has to raise the gas tariff by at least 5.7% and sell gas to consumers for 164 drams per cubic meter instead of 156 drams,” the paper writes.
