Parliamentary opposition boycotts extraordinary session of NA
The opposition factions of the Armenian parliament refused to participate in the extraordinary session today until the assault on ‘Armenian National Congress’ (HAK) faction member Aram Manukyan is discussed.
The parliamentary speaker Galust Sahakyan said the issue can be discussed after 6:00 pm today.
“A session may not be disrupted. It is a flagrant violation of the rules of procedure,” Sahakyan said adding that the factions may issue a text condemning the phenomenon and it will be adopted duly.
The representatives of the non-progovernment factions were displeased with this speaker’s statement.
“We believe that the issue should be discussed during the extraordinary session and for this reason we consider our participation inexpedient. Orinats Yerkir, Heritage, Prosperous Armenia (BHK) and HAK factions are boycotting the session,” deputy of Heritage faction Ruben Hakobyan declared.
