Armenian government holds consultation over financial market situation
A consultation to discuss the situation in Armenia’s financial market took place in the the Armenian government today. Representatives of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund to Armenia as well as heads of the competent bodies participated in the consultation chaired by Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, according to the press office of the government.
The participants discussed the possible developments in the Armenian financial market and further actions. They attached importance to continuing the floating exchange rate policy so as to avoid long-term destabilization of the economy.
The importance of steps to stabilize the situation in the financial market and rule out unfounded rises in consumer goods prices was stressed.
WB and IMF representatives appreciated the efforts and actions of the Armenian government and the CBA and indicated the significance of joint work aimed at stabilizing the financial market in the future.
