Preliminary investigation into prisoner escape case ends
The Special Investigation Service of Armenia (SIS) completed a preliminary investigation into the criminal case opened over abuse of office and improper performance of official duties due to malpractice.
According to the press service of SIS, it was found during the preliminary investigation that on the night of June 7, 2014, policemen Arkady Manukyan, Samvel Aidinyan, Arsen Papoyan and Hakob Gevorgyan showed negligence in the performance of their official duties near units 6 and 7 of the Nubarashen mental clinic, as a result of which inmate Ghukas A. who was undergoing an examination escaped from the clinic.
It was also found that Artyom Mkrtchyan, an inspector on duty in the Nubarashen police station, did not perform his duties properly: he did not register the information about the escape of inmate Ghukas A.
Arkady Manukyan, Arsen Papoyan, Samvel Aidinyan, Hakob Gevorgyan and Artyom Mkrtchyan were charged under Article 315 part 1 of the Criminal Code.
The investigator has filed the case to the prosecutor for approval. The case will then go to court.
