Armenian president receives EPLO director Spyridon Flogaitis
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received Director of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) Professor Spyridon Flogaitis who arrived in Yerevan to attend the opening ceremony of the organization’s Yerevan branch which is the only one in the region, according to the presidential press service.
Welcoming the guest, S. Sargsyan indicated the importance of the mission with which Mr. Flogaitis came to Yerevan. S. Sargsyan considered the opening of EPLO Yerevan branch an important event, noting that it imposes a high responsibility as Armenia realizes the significance of problems in this field, their regular examination and analysis, and in general the necessity to do active work aimed at establishing civil society.
The president stressed that our country is prepared to assist EPLO in conducting its complex and important mission, taking into account the fact that the organization’s goals are line with Armenia’s policy: our country is also an apologist for dissemination of European values and has made progress, cooperating with European partners in that direction since its independence, although there are still many problems whose solution is considered important. Serzh Sargsyan said Armenia will continue that path, while expecting support of partners, including EPLO.
S. Flogaitis expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to open a branch of EPLO in Yerevan. He noted with satisfaction that Armenia joined the EPLO in 2011. Prof. Flogaitis said that their organization is ready to assist Armenia with reform implementation, expert training, and resolution of all professional issues related to Armenia’s needs. In his words, the partnership with Armenia is a good example for other countries in the region.
