Armenian president meets business community representatives
Ahead of Christmas and New Year, a reception for representatives of Armenia’s business community was held today in the residence of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, the presidential press service reported.
The president congratulated the entrepreneurs on the upcoming holidays and wished them success in their economic activities and personal life. He stressed that achievements of businesspeople are not only personal or corporate, but they also promote the economic development of the country. According to Serzh Sargsyan, welfare of hundreds of thousands of citizens in the country is conditioned by achievements and activities of the business community.
The president also spoke about the difficulties faced in 2014. In his words, some objective difficulties and uncertainty existing this year may continue in 2015 for reasons beyond the control of the authorities and businessmen, and this means that vigorous and impeccable joint work should be done.
The president said that difficulties arise even in the most developed and powerful economies like the U.S. and the EU, while countries like Armenia face such problems much more frequently.
“At a difficult time we should not start looking for those guilty and then try to gain laurels immediately after the situation becomes a bit stable. The main thing under such conditions is not to give way to panic and to continue performing one’s duties. In this case it is much easier to overcome difficulties,’ the president said.
He added that in 2014 the Armenian business community worked quite well and in most cases overcame the existing difficulties, and given the situation in the world economy, Russia, Europe and the region, the year can be considered effective.
As regards integration processes, President Sargsyan said that in connection with Armenia’s entry into the Eurasian Economic Union, the year 2015 will bring both opportunities and challenges.
