Karapetyan declines to comment on rumors of merger with another ministry
I don’t comment on neighborhood gossips,” Armenian Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan said today during the final 2014 press conference, when he was asked about the possibility of Agriculture Ministry’s merger with Armenian Ministry of Nature Protection.
In response to a reporter’s remark that Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan himself spoke about optimization, the agriculture minister replied: “Yes, optimization was mentioned, but did the prime minister speak about the merger of Agriculture Ministry and Nature Protection Ministry?”
It should be noted that there were media reports that Armenia’s Nature Protection Ministry and Agriculture Ministry will be combined into a single agency, with Aramais Grigoryan being appointed as its head.
As was reported, on November 6 the government approved the draft amendments to the Law on the Composition and Structure of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, by which it was proposed to merge Ministry of Territorial Administration and Ministry of Emergency Situations and create a new Ministry of Economic Integration and Reforms.
