Gyumri protesters approach Russian 102nd military base
Participants of the protest staged in the city of Gyumri to demand the handover of Russian soldier Valery Permyakov accused of killing six members of a family to Armenian law enforcers have approached the Russian 102nd military base.
Over 300 cars are participating in the march.
Armenian police blocked protesters’ way to the Russian military base, but protesters managed to break through the police cordon.
“There is still a long struggle ahead,” the head of ‘Asparez’ Club of Journalists Levon Barseghyan said. “This is the main road to the base: either we will get out or we will remain locked here,” he added.
Six members of a family, including a two-year-old child, were killed in Gyumri on January 12. Soldier of the Russian 102nd military base Valery Permyakov is suspected of the killings. He was detained and confessed to the crime.
