Prosecutor requests 6.5 years for Vardan Petrosyan
During a sitting of the general jurisdiction court of Armenia’s Kotayk province today, prosecutor Arthur Sargsyan requested 6.5-year prison term for actor Varson Petrosyan and suspension of his driver’s license for 3 years.
According to the prosecutor, the mitigating circumstance is that Vardan Petrosyan has tried to compensate the aggrieved party for the damage.
Comedian Vardan Petrosyan was involved in a road accident on Yeghvard-Yerevan Highway on October 20, 2013. Two people died in the accident, and six others, including V. Petrosyan, were injured. He underwent surgery and was discharged from hospital on November 3.
A criminal case was opened under Article 242 part 3 of the Criminal Code – violation of traffic rules and vehicle operation rules, resulting in deaths of two or more people by negligence. The crime is punished by imprisonment of 4 to 10 years.
