ChI: Karen Petrosyan gives details of meeting with Permyakov
The commanders of the Russian 102nd military base in Gyumri agreed on January 15 to arrange a meeting with Russian soldier Valery Permyakov accused of killing the Avetisyan family.
As is known, Armenian parliamentary deputy Martun Grigoryan as well as Gyumri resident Karen Petrosyan who was one of the most active participants of mass protests were given the opportunity to see the Russian serviceman. K. Petrosyan informed ‘Chorrord Ishkhanutyun’ paper about details.
“Deputy chairman of Armenia’s Investigative Committee Vahagn Harutyunyan and a Russian colonel met us. The colonel escorted to the isolation ward and gave an order to open the door. We entered, after which he ordered that soldier to stand up and face the wall, then he gave an order to a window aperture through which he could be seen, Then we were asked to look at him. Our communication was limited to that,” Karen Petrosyan told the paper.
As regards the protests in Gyumri, he said that the events during the January 15 protest were spontaneous. “In case of presence of an organized group there, clashes would probably take place again. That is, one cannot say that the presence of a pressure group means that clashes are inevitable. As regards the issue of whether any organizers will emerge later, I think it is too early to speak about it,” he said.
