Azerbaijani saboteur D, Askerov may appeal to NKR president for pardon

Dilgam Askerov – a member of the Azerbaijani subversive-reconnaissance group that violated the state border of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic in Karvachar region – currently has no intention of appealing the decision of the court of first instance after he was sentenced to life by the NKR’s  court, Askerov’s lawyer Eric Beglaryan told Artsakhpress. D. Askerov still has time to take a decision, the lawyer said.  

  “I visited Askerov after the pronouncement of the sentence. He said he has no intention of appealing the court decision, and in all likelihood he will use the opportunity to appeal to the president of NKR for pardon,’ the lawyer noted.

As was reported, on December 29 the NKR’s general jurisdiction court of first instance sentenced Dilgam Askerov and Shahbaz Guliyev to life imprisonment and 22 years in prison respectively for violating the state border of Karabakh in July 2014, espionage, illegal carrying of weapons, kidnapping, and murder.
