Protesters refuse to meet with Prime Minister Abrahamyan
Participants of the protest against the amendments to the Law on Turnover Tax due to take effect on February 1 have refused to meet with Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan. They said they are not going to conduct negotiations, but demand the revocation of the amendments to tax legislation.
As was reported earlier, Head of the Government’s Department for Reception of Citizens and Discussion of Petitions, Alexander Ghazaryan, met with protesters. He suggested forming a group of ten people to meet with Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan.
On November 11, 2014 the Armenian parliament adopted in the first reading draft amendments to the Law on Turnover Tax, under which the turnover tax for business entities in trade will be reduced from 3.5% to 1%, but document circulation becomes mandatory.
