Small and medium business representatives protest at government
Representatives of small and medium business engaged in trade are staging yet another protest outside the Armenian government.
They are protesting against the amendments to tax legislation, in particular, the amendment to the Law on Turnover Tax due to take effect on February 1.
Alexander Ghazaryan, Head of the Government’s Department for Reception of Citizens and Discussion of Petitions, met with protesters. He suggested forming up a group of ten people to meet with Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan. Yet the demonstrators demanded revocation of the amendment to the tax law.
On November 11, 2014 the Armenian parliament adopted in the first reading draft amendments to the Law on Turnover Tax, under which the turnover tax for business entities in trade will be reduced from 3.5% to 1%, but document circulation is mandatory.
