Azerbaijani saboteurs intend to apply to Karabakh court of appeal
Shahbaz Guliyev and Dilgam Askerov - two members of an Azerbaijani subversive group who were sentenced to long prison terms - have decided to appeal to the Court of Appeal of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic against their sentences, the saboteurs’ lawyers Erik Beglaryan and Arkady Israelyan told Artsakhpress.
The lawyers said earlier that Guliyev and Askerov had no intention of appealing the court decision.
Azerbaijani citizens Shahbaz Guliyev and Dilgam Askerov, as well as Hasan Hasanov who was killed while offering resistance during his detention, illegally crossed the state border of the NKR on June 29, 2014. They abducted minor Smbat Tsakanyan, a citizen of the NKR, whose body with gunshot wounds was found on July 15. They also killed Armenian citizen Sargis Abrahamyan and wounded a woman, Karine Davtyan.
D. Askerov has been sentenced to life imprisonment, while S. Guliyev received 22 years in prison.
