Komitas Museum Institute opens in Yerevan
Armenian President, Chairman of the State Committee on coordination of the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Serzh Sargsyan attended today the opening of the Armenian composer Komitas Museum Institute.
The State Committee members, President of Nagorno Karabakh Republic Bako Sahakyan, and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II were among the event participants.
“The Komitas Museum Institute stands for the unity and rebirth of the Armenian nation. Archimandrite Komitas combined the spiritual and the secular, the Western Armenian and the Eastern Armenian, proving the artificiality of those and various other dividing lines. Thus, he became the symbol and guarantor of the new course of genocide surviving Armenian people by lifting it up and bringing to an enormous layer of civilization. I am happy this museum will help the unique legacy of Komitas become an object of coordinated studies and will be widely disseminated in both Armenia and around the world,” Serzh Sargsyan wrote in the Book of Honorary Guests.
