Aram Sargsyan: He who led that operation is biggest criminal
Despite the fact that the decision to stage a protest in Artsakh was a wrong one, nevertheless people should not be treated that way, the leader of the Democratic Party of Armenia Aram Sargsyan said when speaking about the incident in Berdzor.
“Wasn’t it possible to stop the protesters beforehand and tell them to return, without violence? A regiment was sent against people – was such a thing ever heard?” he said.
Aram Sargsyan stressed that impunity is the cause of such incidents. “Those who do it are never punished and as a result, people get accustomed to the situation,” he noted, adding that under such conditions, incidents may happen constantly.
“According to what logic and what rules do such things happen? A similar event took place here on April 12, 2004,” Aram Sargsyan said.
“He who led that operation was the biggest criminal,” the leader of DPA said, noting that such actions are carried out ‘because the authorities took that decision”.
As was reported, on January 31 Pre-parliament opposition civil initiative decided to hold yet another protest against the current authorities by organizing a “procession of cars” in the Nagorno Karabakh Republic. Reports appeared soon about a “clash of protest participants with law enforcers of Artsakh”. Pre-parliament issued a statement saying that on January 31 “some unknown persons in police cars” hindered the actions of protesters not far from Berdzor. They used violence, inflicted injuries on protesters, broke their video cameras and damaged their cars.
