Jordan deploys ‘thousands’ of troops at its border with Iraq
The Jordanian Army has deployed thousands of troops at its border with Iraq in a step to intensify the campaign against the ISIS group militants who had recently set a Jordanian pilot ablaze, IraqiNews.com reports.
According to NBC News, Jordanian officials said that Jordan has moved thousands of troops at its border with Iraq.
The Army troops were sent along the border in order to prevent the infiltration of the ISIS group elements into Jordan and also as a show of force in the military campaign against the group, Jordanian government officials have said.
“Jordan’s air raids against ISIS have degraded nearly 20% of the militants’ capabilities,” one official said last Sunday.
“We are determined to wipe them from the face of the Earth,” Jordan’s Army General Mansour al-Jabour said.
