Hakob Kazanchyan: Theatre problems related not only to financing

The problems of a theatre today are related not only to financing, the quality of creative work remains a topical problem, Chairman of the Union of Theatre Workers of Armenia Hakob Kazanchyan told reporters.

In his words, the principles of managing the theatre are not coordinated, which creates a number of problems. The relations between the state and theatre should be regulated by a law whose adoption has been delayed, he noted.

“Discussions were held several times, and every time when the bill was expected to be passed soon, it was delayed for some reason,” Kazanchyan said.

The union chairman said that theatres in Armenian regions are in a terrible state.

“The artistic directors of regional theatres are people who are far from the world of theatre. The dramaturgy school in Armenia has not been established as it cannot exist separately from the theatre,” Kazanchyan said.
