Melik-Shahnazaryan: Page of failed relations with Turkey can be deemed closed
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan recalled the Armenian-Turkish Protocols on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations and the Development of Relations from Armenia’s National Assembly. This page of failed relations with Turkey can be considered closed, political scientist Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan wrote on Facebook today.
“Political leadership of Armenia had long kept that issue on the agenda, “developing and fanning it” so as to throw it in Turkey’s face ahead of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. I am sure that it is an important step in terms of debunking Turkey’s policy of denial and preconditions in the eyes of the international community. The timing for recalling the protocols was good. Let’s see what blows Turkey, which nullified the mediation and efforts of powers that be, will get from the international community and the world press,” Melik-Shahnazaryan wrote.
