Armenian president visits Kotayk province
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan today paid a working visit to Kotyak province of the country. In the greenhouse of Mavas Group in Dzoraghbyur community, he familiarized himself with the company’s investment programs and production capacities.
The president was accompanied by Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan, Governor of Kotayk province Aram Harutyunyan and other officials.
Director of Mavas Group LLC Armenak Mkrtchyan provided information about the company’s foundation, noting the favorable climatic conditions for greenhouse business in the province.
Mkrtchyan said that all greenhouses of the company gradually shift to modern Dutch technology. The produce is sold in the domestic market, but there are plans to increase production and start exports to Russia. Agreements have already been signed with the Russian side.
“We will put another 10 ha into operation in October. We plan to export 5,000 tons of tomatoes and cucumbers and increase exports to 10-12 tons in 2016,” Mkrtchyan said.
The company employs 80-100 people, the average wage is 100,000 drams. The number of employees is expected to reach 400 after the implementation of programs.
