Hraparak: Henceforth Memorial Days to be workdays
Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan has decided to amend the decision of his predecessor, former PM Tigran Sargsyan and cancel non-working days on Memorial Days following the Cardinal Feasts of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
‘Hraparak’ paper writes that this year the Memorial Days will not be non-working days anymore. Easter will be celebrated in Armenia on April 5, and the following Monday, a Memorial Day, is likely to be a workday.
On June 16, 2008, Memorial Day was declared a nonworking day in the country for the first time.
Economists repeatedly said that Armenia cannot afford so many nonworking days as it had a negative impact on the country’s economy.
