Putin rules out apocalyptic war scenario in Ukraine
Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that people should not be expecting a war with Ukraine, according to BBC Russian Service.
"I think such an apocalyptic scenario is unlikely and I hope that it will never get to that point," he said in an interview with the Russia One television.
Commenting on Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's plans to regain Crimea, Putin said: "As regards the regaining of territories, these are such things of a revanchist nature, and whether some territories will be regained somewhere is not the point."
"The point is that today's - in my view, I am not suggesting anything - today's government of a big European country such as Ukraine should first and foremost return the country to a normal life, fix the economy, the social sector, establish its relations with the country's southeast in a civil manner, and provide statutory rights and interests for the people living, say, in Donbass," the Russian president said.
