US President Barack Obama extends a number of sanctions against Russia
US President Barack Obama extended sanctions imposed previously against Russia over the Ukraine crisis for a year.
"According to the press service of the White House, the published documents show that sanctions imposed on March 6, 16 and 20, and December 19, 2014, by the US government were extended", Russian TASS news agency reports.
By these sanctions, a number of Russian citizens, including officials, as well as a number of members of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's government were banned from entering the US. Restrictions apply to some of the major businessmen and several companies in Russia, and leaders of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk Republics.
Obama announced that all these sanctions "shall remain in force until March 6, 2015".
