Armenian president hails EU Neighborhood Policy

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan highly praised the country’s developing partnership with the EU as he received Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn in his office on Wednesday.

Greeting the EU official, who is in Yerevan to participate the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly’s fourth plenary session, the Armenian leader said that continuing high-ranking visits offer the country an opportunity  to consider future avenues of cooperation and exchange ideas over mutual concerns.

Attaching a big values to the ongoing dialogue and cooperation, the commissioner said that Armenian and European officials are now in active negotiations over revising the different aspects of the Neighborhood Policy. He once again stressed the importance of developing differentiated policies for each of the EU partners, understanding and respecting individual  positions and approaches.

President Sargsyan said he expects the cooperation within the Neighborhood Policy frameworks to be useful in terms of promoting reforms and thanked all the EU institutions for the assistance provided.
