Aznavour to Perform at Vatican on Armenian Genocide Centennial
Renowned French Armenian singer Charles Aznavour is planning to perform a concert at the Vatican on the centennial anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, RIA Novosti reports.
The singer will meet Pope Francis on Wednesday and plans to discuss the concert with him.
The Pope is well aware of Aznavour’s art and listens to the music of one of the most popular singers among Armenians, said a source close to the Pope.
On April 12, Pope Francis will hold a holy service at Saint Peter’s church to commemorate the 1915 genocide of Armenians. He has named 2015 as the year of Saint Gregory of Narek, a tenth-century Armenian monk and poet, a Doctor of the Church. Only some 36 saints have been granted the title so far.
