Serzh Sargsyan meets with China's State Council chief
As part of his working visit to the People’s Republic of China, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on Thursday met with Premier of the State Council Li Keqiang.
The negotiations between the sides focused on prospects of deepening bilateral relations in mutually beneficial sectors, including energy, transport, chemical manufacturing, education, sciences, agriculture, tourism and infra-structure development.
They both highly prioritized the joint bilateral committee’s work towards developing the mutually agreed cooperation on the practical platform, reports the presidential press office.
The sides further highly praised progress in the trade-economic relations, agreeing to invest further efforts to fully use the existing potential.
The Armenian leader said that the country’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union opens wide perspectives also in the Armenian-Chinese relations.
The sides mutually stressed the importance of the cooperation documents signed in the course of the current working visit.
Hailing the China’s decision to restore the Silk Road, President Sargsyan offered Armenia’s possible assistance in the initiative. In that context, the sides talked of the North-South transport corridor, the railway connecting Iran with Armenia and Chinese companies’ possible involvement in the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Armenia.
At the end of the meeting, President Sargsyan thanked the Chinese Government for the gratuitous aid to the country, considering it tangible and highly valued by people in Armenia.
