Spain’s Xirivella officially recognizes Armenian Genocide
Xirivella joined other Spanish cities that have officially recognized the Armenian Genocide, according to RA Foreign Ministry’s Facebook page.
Xirivella is the third Spanish city to officially recognize the Genocide within the last month. Plenary council of Pinto City Hall on March 26, and that of Betera on March 17 officially adopted similar resolutions.
The document states that massacres and deportations took place in 1915-1921 in the territory of present-day Turkey, particularly under the Young Turks’ rule, during which 1.5 million Armenians were killed, and another two million were forced to leave their homes and find refuge all over the world, forming the Armenian Diaspora.
