Galust Sahakyan meets with President of Cyprus
A delegation of Armenian National Assembly, led by Speaker Galust Sahakyan, was received on Thursday by President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades, the press service of Armenian parliament reports.
Galust Sahakyan highlighted promotion of cultural, scientific and educational cooperation between the two countries. He said that Armenia attaches importance to development of economic relations with Cyprus.
Mr Sahakyan said that Armenia will continue its efforts in the recognition, condemnation and prevention of genocides. He thanked the House of Representatives of Cyprus for the adoption of the law criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide.
Mr Anastasiades said that Cyprus has been and will always be brotherly country of Armenia, and will make efforts to assist its friend country.
He reaffirmed his decision to attend Armenian Genocide centennial commemorations.
The President of Cyprus noted that he is aware of Azerbaijan’s provocative actions, and he absolutely supports Armenia’s approach regarding a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
