Goods imported to Armenia cleared from customs in other EEU countries
The goods imported to Armenia from other countries are cleared from customs in other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), mostly in Belarus and Kazakhstan, Haykakan Zhamanak says.
Previously, most products from third countries were transported to Georgia by sea and then cleared from customs on the Georgia-Armenia border, while now a large part of cargo which is transported from Europe to Armenia is cleared from customs in Belarus and Kazakhstan.
Importers avoid clearing the goods from customs at the Armenian customs house as customs clearance is cheaper in Belarus and Kazakhstan, with no “inspection prices” applied.
The matter is that Armenian customs bodies clear the goods from customs not at their real prices, but at “inspection prices” set by the customs house.
